I first talked about how much iPhone video stabilization impressed me when I tested it on the iPhone 13 Pro back in 2021. It’s been improved significantly since then, with both the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro having a version Apple refers to as “ultra-stabilized video.”

Every few months, I sit down to look back at the Mac threat landscape, and every time I expect to write about something new. This time I can’t. But that doesn’t mean nothing is happening. In fact, the opposite.

There’s a running joke that Apple always breathlessly announces that each year’s iPhone Pro is “the best iPhone we’ve ever made,” as if that were in some way surprising. But I do think that there’s some poignancy to the iPhone 18 Pro, because if the rumors about next year’s model are true, this could be the final iteration of the form factor that began with the iPhone X back in 2017.

Last week, Bloomberg reported that Apple is working on a screenless fitness tracker, akin to a WHOOP or Fitbit Air. As someone who’s used the WHOOP for the past 6 months, I do think its a great concept, though there are a few things I’d like to see Apple do better.

For the past year, we’ve been looking forward to a new iPad mini refresh, and it’s sounding like its just around the corner. A new leak last week from Aaron Perris unveiled that the product should feature an A20 Pro chip and thinner bezels, and we already know it’ll feature OLED and a water resistant design.
While those upgrades are excellent, I have one major thing I want from the next iPad mini, and it has to do with software.

After the release of Vision Pro, everyone wanted to know how long it would be before the company could release a lighter version that isn’t so bulky on your face. For the longest time, we had been looking forward to a so-called Vision Air, codenamed N100. That project was shelved last year, though the company is working on a new project with similar aspirations, per Bloomberg.

Apple must pay $5.7 billion for infringing on patents held by Taction Technology, a US jury ruled on Friday. The patents relate to Apple’s Taptic Engine, which is the hardware Apple uses to provide haptic feedback for notifications, button presses, and other interactions.
Taction first filed the lawsuit in 2021, alleging Apple had “infringed and continues to infringe, directly and indirectly” its patents.
